South Coyote Buttes Tours - Adventures photo op
South Coyote Buttes Tours

The southern section of Coyotes Buttes is just as incredible as it’s cousin to the north.

Divided into Paw Hole and Cottonwood, our South Coyote Buttes Tours are perfect if you enjoy wandering through remote areas in picturesque destinations. There are several colorful and delicate walls, including deep red iron in Paw Hole, orange and yellow in Cottonwood, and lace rock and teepee rock formations in both! You could spend days here and still not see everything. With less hikers than The Wave, this location is pristine for photographers and hikers alike.

The South Coyote Buttes Tours departs from Kanab, UT or Page, AZ at approximately 8:00am and returns at approximately 3:00pm.

TWO TRAILHEAD OPTIONS

PAW HOLE

Looking for something similar (and some say better) than The Wave in North Coyote Buttes? At Paw Hole, you’ll find deep red iron oxide sandstone, lace rock, and fins galore. With less driving compared to Cottonwood, this area is great when you want more time to wander and explore. The difficulty of the hike is moderate, but depends on weather conditions. The hike is about 4-5 hours long through rock, sand, and steep hills. It’s perfect for seeing wave-like rock formations, teepees, and deep red sandstone.

Packages start at $220

COTTONWOOD COVE

Though the drive to this location is longer and there is more hiking required to see the beautiful rock formations, there is more to see at Cottonwood Cove. This area has very prominent orange and yellow rock with many breathtaking geological formations. Hike through back country wilderness and see thin fins, arches, teepees, and other multi-colored rocks. The difficulty of the hike is moderate, but depends on weather conditions. The hike is about 3-4 hours long through rock, sand, and steep hills. It’s perfect for those who want to see Mother Nature at her pure, most unadulterated form.

Packages start at $220
