We all know the saying, “April showers bring May flowers,” but here at DETOURS April brings us National Park Week from the 21st through the 29th! It’s like our version of Shark Week, only with less sharks and more cacti.

Starting on April 21st, National Park Week kicks it off with National Junior Ranger Day where parks will have events going on for Junior Rangers and their families. On April 22nd, Earth Day creates the perfect occasion to go to your favorite National Park to celebrate all that our beautiful planet has to offer. April 28th, National Park Week celebrates and recognizes the Military and Veterans to thank them for all that they have done for our country. Finally, on April 29th, National Parks Week is celebrating Rx Day where they are advocating for prescribing outdoor therapy in order to promote mental, and physical, health and wellness within communities. Please check your local park to see what events they are participating in, or go and create your own, safe, National Park celebration with your friends and family!

One of our favorite National Parks and Monuments is Grand Canyon South Rim with its picture perfect views around every corner. There you can enjoy the beautiful spring weather that makes for a great combination with the colorful local flora that are in bloom. One of the best ways to experience the Grand Canyon is in a helicopter. During the 45 minute ride with Maverick, one of the highest rated for safety in the country, you will get to take in one of the 7 natural wonders of the world from a birds eye view. Experience views of fault lines, rock formations, and all the colors that are associated with the Grand Canyon and the American South West all from the exhilarating cabin of a helicopter. If heights are not for you, there is plenty to see and do in the Grand Canyon South Rim Village. From seeing the historic El Tovar Hotel and the Hopi Hut, to shopping, dining, and hiking, there is surely something for everyone at this glorious location. This Full Day tour is offered out of Las Vegas, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona. Unlimited bottled water and lunch are provided with this all inclusive tour.

During National Park Week, its all about celebrating the outdoors. So take a hike, go for a swim, enjoy nature in all its beauty. Go visit your local National Park, or if you’re in the neighborhood, let us take you on an adventure you are sure to remember.
