Grand Canyon South Rim Tour from Las Vegas - Desert View Watchtower

Departs: approximately 5:30am

Returns: approximately 7:00pm

After departing Las Vegas, the tour will travel through the Mojave Desert to the widest and deepest part of the Grand Canyon South Rim. The Mojave Desert is characterized by its signature plant, the Joshua Tree, and plays host to possibly the hottest place on Earth. To beat the heat, we will journey over the mighty Colorado River on the Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and pass along Route 66, the “Main Street of America,” to the top of the Colorado Plateau and Ponderosa Forests that surround Grand Canyon South Rim.

Before arriving at the South Rim of the National Park, the tour will stop in the historic town of Williams, Arizona before your helicopter tour check in. Home to the Grand Canyon Railway and the intersection of Route 66, this small town is a reminder of the American west from the 1950’s. Once arriving at the Grand Canyon Airport, you will be checked in for your 45 minute Maverick Helicopter tour showcasing the canyons, fault lines, and towering rock formations that are otherwise missed by many of the visitors to the South Rim. This 80 mile loop crosses the Colorado River in two locations and flies along the North Rim of Grand Canyon before returning to Grand Canyon Airport. With approximately three hours in and over the Grand Canyon National Park, you will have opportunities to walk along the rim, shop, capture an unlimited amount of photographs, or relax with the best seat in the house. Our knowledgeable guides will ensure you get the best views from viewpoints like Mather Point and Yavapai Point to name a few before returning to Las Vegas.

An overnight stay at the Grand Canyon can be added to your tour for an enhanced experience. Please contact a tour specialist after booking your Grand Canyon Southwest Escape Tour online for more information.

  • The Helicopter ride itself was spectacular. The pilot was friendly and very knowledgeable about various aspects of the canyon (geological, topographical etc). During the 45 minute ride we were able to visit both the South and North Rims. It was definitely one of the most amazing experiences that we have ever had. This once in a lifetime trip was well worth the cost and the time. If I ever had the opportunity to do it again, I would do it again in a heartbeat!

  • After going to Las Vegas for a 60th birthday, we were trying to find a trip to the Grand Canyon which included the journey, helicopter and tour of the Grand Canyon. Our hotel suggested detours Nevada and it was a fantastic trip!!! It was definitely worth the money. The trip was very well organised and included breakfast and lunch that was pre-ordered with various choices. Our tour guide James was fantastic, very knowledgable and friendly/polite which added to the trip. The helicopter tour was the most incredible experience! We all agreed was the most memorable experience we will all have!!
