Summer vacation is coming to a close and families across the nation are celebrating the last month before school starts. As Las Vegas is a unique town, it comes as no surprise that families here celebrate the last month of summer in an equally unique and exciting way. Between back to school shopping and finding ways to beat the heat, here are our favorite family activities in our town!

The Las Vegas Strip isn’t known for its family oriented nature, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist! On select Friday nights at the Cosmopolitan, you can enjoy the rooftop Boulevard Pool. Sit poolside and watch movies like Happy Gilmore, Baby Driver, and Pulp Fiction. If you present your parking ticket you can also redeem a complimentary popcorn and soda. Yum! Shopping is always a must, especially for back to school clothes. Some of the best places to shop on the Strip include Fashion Show Mall, Caesar’s Palace Forum Shops, Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile Shops, and Town Square. Our favorite of these location is Town Square. It’s a one stop shop for everything you need! Not only does it have stores for everyone, but there are also many restaurants, a movie theater, and even a Gameworks. Your kids can play the arcade games while you enjoy a cold drink at the bar! Back on the Strip, visit M&M’s World and the Coca-Cola Store where you can buy M&M and Coca Cola themed gifts as well as try sodas from all around the world. In New York New York, ride the rollercoaster and kill time in their arcade and don’t forget The Hershey Store, a chocolate lovers dream! Two floors filled top to bottom with enough chocolate and sugary goodness to make anyone feel like a kid again.

If you’re looking for a more low key adventure off the Strip, check out these local places that are sure to impress you. At Lake Las Vegas, families and couples alike can enjoy night time movies on select Fridays. Las Vegas also has two water parks: Wet’N’Wild and Cowabunga Bay. Wet’N’Wild has fun events such as Friday Dine in Movies, Saturday DJ performances, and Twilight Swim each day after 4pm where they charge a discounted price! Cowabunga Bay also has a twilight price after 4pm, as well as After School Days where they charge only $19.99 for all day entrance on Thursdays in August. You can also check out one of Nevada’s oldest and most prosperous gold mines located just outside of Las Vegas on our Eldorado Canyon Mine Tour. From entering the original mine to seeing all the artifacts found when excavating, this tour is a one of a kind that you don’t want to miss! It departs daily and is only a half day tour which leaves plenty of time for you to spend the rest of your afternoon poolside or shopping for all the end of summer sales.

Las Vegas is just as much of a family destination as the next. It just takes a little looking past the shimmering lights and bells! Make your final vacation this summer one to remember and treat your family to an unforgettable experience in the City of Lights.
